Mix 4

JIVE|HOURS|mix|4
tracklist and reviews after the jump
1. Jeremy Jay - Whispers of  The Heart
|| I would put every track from Jeremy Jay's new album 'Splash' on this mix if i could. His boyish croon and retro hooks slay my romantic heart.  Out May 25th on K records.
2. The Joy Formidable - The Greatest Light Is The Greatest Shade
|| This welsh trio lays it down heavy and fuzzy, with formidable female vocals.  think 'loveless', or maybe 'yeah yeah yeahs'.
3. Wolf Parade - Palm Road
|| Wolf Parade trades in their Canadian angst for a bit of Springsteen swagger on their new record 'Expo 86'.  Rock an' roll.
4. MGMT - Someone's Missing
|| MGMT tries hard on their new album 'Congratulations.' They almost have a lil soul on the Jackson-5-ish coda of this psychedelic number.
5. Ceremony - Breaking Up
|| A little boring and a little cheesily chorused, Virginia's Ceremony at least knows to keep it short and happy on this new order/cure/MBV-type track.
6. Indian Jewelry - Lapis Lazuli
||  "A relatively rare, semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense blue color" says wikipedia.  This track is one of the more listenable off Indian Jewelry's f'd-up, psychedelic 'Totaled.'
7. Unnatural Helpers - Sunshine/Pretty Girls
|| Summer rock n roll from Seattle.
8.  The Wave Pictures - Marie Again
|| Threadbare, affectionate pop by brits The Wave Pictures. Endearing. From their new LP 'Susan Rode The Cyclone.'
9. Free Whatever - Forever
|| Summer garage-rock from a brooklyn project I know nothing about.  From here.
10. Future Islands - Flicker And Flutter (Javelin Remix)
|| Amazing remix of Baltimore's Future Islands by dance duo Javelin.  Motown-claps and soulful vocals. From  'Post Office Wave Chapel' on Free Danger
